Davion is the 2021, Round 1, 9th overall draft pick by the Sacramento Kings. Before being drafted by the Kings, Mitchell was a student-athlete at Auburn University and Baylor University.
Mitchell attended Liberty County High School in Hinesville, Georgia. As a high school junior, Mitchell averaged 24.2 points, 7.1 assists, and 2.9 steals per game. He was named ‘Savannah Morning News Player of the Year’ for his performance.

In his high school senior season, Mitchell averaged 23.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game. He then committed to play college basketball for Auburn University.
In 2017, as a freshman at Auburn, Mitchell averaged 3.7 points and 1.9 assists per game. After playing one season for Auburn, Mitchell transferred to Baylor University. In his sophomore season, Mitchell averaged 9.9 points and 3.8 assists per game. In 2021, he helped Baylor to win an NCAA championship.
